Company FAQ

How does the process work?

We offer free estimates and appointments can be made over the phone, via our website, or by stopping in the office. We will gather your project information (name, address, email), preferred style (can always change!), and set up an appointment date/time.

Do I have to be home for the appointment?

No, not necessarily. In the event we can’t find a suitable time for us to meet face to face, we measure your property with a little assistance from you and of course with your permission! In this event, we would ask that you draw up a small sketch with simple lines of how you want the fence to run and spots where the gates (if any needed) would be placed. Nothing fancy, just something simple our sales team can reference when measuring.

Do I have to call OHIO811 before you dig?

No, we will take care of calling location services to mark the public utilities. But please remember they only mark public utilities; if you have additional things (ex. power to a shed, landscape lights, pool pumps, etc.) we ask that you mark these items or let the installers know when they show up on site. If you have any questions you can also give us a call.

How long will the installation take?

This will vary greatly depending on the size and type of fence or deck that you choose. Our knowledgeable sales staff will be able to give you an idea of the duration of your specific project!

Who gets the permit? Do I even need a permit?

For residential installs, the owner is responsible for checking if a permit is needed, and if needed, applying for and receiving it before the installation takes place. The process is generally simple with most jurisdictions (+/- 1 week), but please check with your local officials to be 100% sure!

Chain Link FAQ

Are there different types of chain link fencing?

Generally, chain link fencing is galvanized to protect from rust and corrosion. It does also come coated with a PVC or polymer coating in various colors which greatly improves the look and the durability of the fence.

What heights of chain link are available?

Many people don't realize that chain link fencing comes in heights up to 12ft or even higher. Obviously, anything over 6ft is usually not intended for residential applications in Ohio. We generally see most customers opting for 36”, 42”, or 48” chain link when used for residential applications.

Is chain link fencing a good choice for Ohio property owners?

Chain link fencing is a great choice to stand up to the harsh Ohio winters and strong winds. Our experience is that chain link fences last an average of 20+ years in Ohio and PVC or polymer coated chain link lasts even longer.

Vinyl FAQ

Do vinyl fences stand up to high winds?

Yes. Many people are surprised to learn that a properly installed vinyl fence can easily stand up to the harsh weather of Ohio. Winds, snow, and cold temperatures are no match for a quality vinyl fence.

What colors does vinyl fence come in?

Vinyl fence comes in a variety of styles and colors. Please visit CertainTeed's website to view available styles.

What brand of vinyl do you sell and install?

We work with CertainTeed products, specifically their Bufftech line of fences. We chose them because CertainTeed has earned a reputation as a premier building materials manufacturer for more than 100 years.

Does Lucius offer a warranty on vinyl fences?

CertainTeed fences are manufactured to withstand the elements and include an industry-leading limited lifetime warranty for all extruded products. They also have ColorLast® Fade Protection that gives lifetime coverage. Check out the warranty here.

How do I care for my vinyl fence?

Cleaning your vinyl fence is a breeze! Just spray off dirt with a mixture of mild detergent and water! Difficult stains can be treated with cleaning agents advertised to work with PVC materials and by following the manufacturer's recommendations for these products.

Aluminum FAQ

Does aluminum fencing come in different grades or qualities?

Yes. We carry lighter-grade aluminum fencing for more economical options all the way up to heavy-duty aluminum fencing typically used for commercial or industrial applications.

Our fence experts can help you select the right grade of aluminum fencing that strikes a balance between the strength you need without breaking the bank - paying for additional strength you don't need.

What sizes does aluminum fencing come in?

Aluminum fencing comes in many different heights and lengths. Generally speaking, most styles of aluminum fences come in heights from 4ft tall up to 8ft tall. Our residential aluminum fences come in 48", 54", 60", and 72". Aluminum fence section lengths also vary depending on the style.

Are aluminum fences good to use for pools?

Absolutely! Aluminum fencing is the top choice for Ohio residents to protect their pools - meeting even the most stringent pool codes.

Because aluminum doesn't rust, it is a great choice for wet areas. Being able to see through the fence allows you to keep an eye on what is going on in the pool - another key safety feature for parents and homeowners.
